Mr. Marsano’s class (5-302),
You guys are going to make videos by putting photos from the Internet with your voices reading the lines of poetry you wrote for your Whitman List Poems.
Here’s a sample of how it might work: Video Sample on The Media Spot
Here are links to the photos I used to make the video you just saw. I found them by using “key words” from Walt Whitman’s poem to search MorgueFile.com (http://www.morguefile.com), a website full of free photographs on all types of subjects.
For your list poetry videos on Nature you will do searches for “key words” in the lines of student poetry you choose on http://morguefile.com, and save them on your computers for your videos.
For example, I put the “Key Words” in the following line of poetry that I would use in an Internet search in bold text:
The early lilacs became part of this child,
And grass, and white and red morning-glories, and white and red clover, and the song of the phoebe-bird…

went Forth”. Beautiful work. Well done.

my images from MorgueFile. I’m very much into photographing horses right now so I really loved the
horse sound.

Thank you for your comments, and for contacting us! I’m glad you found
our links to your photos. I am coordinating the project at PS124, an
elementary school in Brooklyn, NY. The students are going to continue
to use photos from MorgueFile for additional poetry videos. The theme
is nature, so they will most likely be using more of your great shots!
On top of all the searching and technical work to produce these videos
it would be difficult to have the students credit each individual
photographer they use photos from. However, I think it is important for
them to be aware that there is a difference between MorgueFile photos
and photos found through Google Images. We have touched on this in
class during the preliminary search, and will eventually credit
MorgueFile.com in the end. As an MF user and author, are you
comfortable with that?

Hello.
MorgueFile has opened so many doors for me & I’ve had such great ‘notifies’ & credits, to be used as a tool for young students, I can afford to be okay with no direct credit.
This is a wonderful way to make a difference in a child’s life & I’m elated that I can be a part of that.
I hope they see things in my work that they don’t see often in Brooklyn.
Poetry & pictures made into a film–that’s just real cool.
I do hope they see my comments. I cut & pasted Walt Whitman’s name & name of the poem so that looks messed up now but I’m sure someone can fix that.

There are so many great people on MorgueFile from all over the world & as young as teenagers. I don’t know how you found the site, but I am so glad you did.
Keep up the great work and wonderful ideas.
Instead of watching someone else’s work on tv, you tube & movies, these students can create their own entertainment & read & interpret great poetry.

hi i am one of the kids from 5-302 it was so hard to do this vidoe and this is for the kids that are going to the fith next yeardont rush take your time and good luck i need that for nexts year im going to 6th grade.have a good time!!
